Organic hand-woven hemp fabric

Most of our products are from hand-woven hemp. It is one of the H’mong unique traditions to cultivate and weave hemp into fabrics. Hemp plant are grown organically and harvested by hand. The artisans then use simple tools & machines to create hemp fiber from the hemp plants. It will go through 41 steps from scratching, beating, straightening to weaving, coloring to create a piece of cloth which is strong, durable and biodegradable. Hemp fabrics get softer and more comfortable after wears and washes.

  • Batik beeswax drawing

    Batik is a common technique among tribal groups to decorate fabrics. The artisans will use molten beeswax to draw on a fabric surface following the designed pattern. The fabric then will be colored into cool dye and finally boiled in boiling water. Beeswax will be melted in hot water and reveal the covered pattern. Though sound simple, batik painting requires a lot of practice and skills to master.

  • Hand-embroidery

    Back to the old days, learning how to embroider is an essential skill for any H’mong girl to master since an early age. It is a part of H’mong tradition that girls make and embroider clothes for themselves and their family members. Nowadays, hand-embroidery are replaced a lot by machine, which save time and effort. However, as a part of our mission is trying to reserve the talents in embroidery, we select hand-embroidery for our products.

Plant-based color

The vibrant colors in our products are thanks to the natural dyeing process. From indigo blue to bright yellow, green or red, they are all plant-based ingredients. Natural color is safe for the sensitive skins and environmental friendly. To be able to create a designed colors and shades, it will take a lot of experiments and skills to master. Also, other factors like the weather or humidity will affects hugely on the outcome.

  • Repurposed fabrics

    A part of vintage tribal costumes is applied in our product designs. These fabrics are all woven by hand and naturally dyed. They also have a lot of embroidery details and batik painting using beeswax. An authentic H'mong cloth requires a lot of time, effort and skills of the makers, and it is worth to be conserved in the fashion cycles

  • Refashioned fabric

    The fabrics that are traditionally used to make tribal costumes are refashioned into a more commonly used products like bags, wallets, home decor. They are usually combined with other materials for diverse applications.

    These fabrics are all woven by hand and naturally dyed. They also have a lot of embroidery details and batik painting using beeswax. An authentic fabric requires a lot of time, effort and skills of the makers, and it is worth to be applied widely.
